BIRTH PREPARATION METHODS

The aim of the Gentle Birth Method is to make expectant mother BIRTHFIT (over and above being medically normal)

 BIRTHFIT means that the mother is:

  • Physically fit and supple at term
  • Confident and emotionally in control
  • Capable of meeting the demands of birth
  • Knows and understands how to manage labour

 In order to help a mother to become birthfit “The Jeyarani Way” Gentle Birth Method helps the mother’s BODY and the MIND.

 BODY - PHYSICAL PREPARATION

The physical preparation part of the method provides mothers treatment and advice to: 

  • Help women with any physical problems e.g. nausea, vomiting, hypertension, tiredness, gestational diabetes, etc, that they might experience during pregnancy.
  • Help a mother to detoxify her body so that she may have a healthy pregnancy and baby, and a good birth.
  • Increase her Physical Fitness ready for the birthing process: stamina; suppleness; strength.

 MIND - MENTAL PREPARATION

The mental preparation part of the method that prepares the mother so that she can have a Gentle Birth, focuses on:

  • Confidence building – that she can have the birth that she wants
  • Removing fear – of the birthing process, and of motherhood together with the changes it will bring.
  • Providing knowledge – so that she understands the processes that she and her baby are going through.

The Gentle Birth Method also focuses on the relationship between the BODY and MIND and vice versa.  We believe that you get the best results when you work on the body AND the mind – after all they are linked, take away one and you won’t get much response from the other!  We tend to find that people prefer one part of the programme to another.  Some woman who often go to the gym like the physical preparation more and focus on that, others think that as they are “physically fit” they should opt for the mental preparation part.  Still other mother’s believe that pregnancy is a time to relax, so they will do the mental part but not the physical part.  However, in our experience THE “BEST” BIRTHS OCCUR WHEN THE MOTHER COMMITS TO BOTH PARTS OF THE PROGRAMME.  Remember birth is an emotional-hormonal-mechanical event – when mind and body are synchronised, birthing is essentially easy to manage.

Ask yourself these questions:

  • You may be physically and medically fit, but are you birthfit?
  • You may have strong arms and legs from the gym, but are your pelvic muscles loose, like 'softly-set jelly', ready to give birth?
  • Are you completely confident that you can manage during labour?
  • Are you ready to become a mother for life and change your life accordingly?
  • If not, then please join “The Jeyarani Way” Gentle Birth Method. 

Start as early as possible in your pregnancy, to create the birth that you want to experience, which will give you joy, satisfaction and a sense of fulfilment.
